Connecting Academia to Industry
HCRI is a joint venture of Harvard Medical School, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Partners HealthCare. Structured as a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation, the Institute distributes research surplus for the support of academically-based clinical research programs, and for the growth and development of the Institute.
The Institute collaborates with associated academic researchers to offer expertise in a broad range of therapeutic areas including interventional cardiology in which it is a recognized leader. HCRI's researchers are practicing physicians with expertise in cutting-edge medical technologies.
HCRI is a respected academic research organization (ARO) that employs over 200 dedicated research professionals. It provides sponsors with comprehensive services to conduct multi-center clinical research trials within an academic setting.
Proven Expertise & Worldwide Reach
The results of HCRI's research speak to its success. The Institute has assisted in the analysis of data for over 35 product approvals (including one out of four cardiovascular device premarket approvals) and numerous CE Mark approval dossiers. HCRI has managed more than 200 clinical research trials.
The Institute also preserves data to provide data analysis for researchers from medical centers around the world. In fact, statistical analyses from HCRI have supported hundreds of peer-reviewed publications.
HCRI Conflict of Interest Statement
HCRI, as a leading academic research organization, is in a position of important public trust, and all research that we are associated with must be conducted with the highest level of scientific integrity. Any personal conflict of interest, whether actual or perceived, may adversely impact the analysis and conclusions of such research. All work that HCRI is associated with must always be above reproach and without question as to our objectivity and independence.
In order to protect against any inappropriate conflicts of interest and to monitor all such relationships where a conflict may exist, HCRI has established a Conflict of Interest Oversight Committee (CIOC). The CIOC manages Conflict of Interest oversight by reviewing all reported conflicts and adjudicating any potential conflicts. Any relationship or prospective relationship that is perceived to present a conflict shall be remediated by either the elimination of the financial interest or the removal of the conflicted employee or associate from the research project in question.
