The City's Electric Utility consists of 1500 commercial and industrial accounts as well as 4500 residential accounts covering a 63 square mile services territory. Peak system load is approaching 40MW and continues to grow. The Utility is managed by the Director of Light & Power who reports to the City Manager. The Utility employs a staff of 16 which includes lineman, metering operations, power plant operations as well as technical and administrative staff. Utility employees are represented by one of two unions; International Union of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE). The department has an approximate annual budget of $15 million.
