Company Description:
The San Mateo-Foster City School District is proud of our new API ranking of 826. In order to continue to improve student achievement, we are focusing on three areas: Guided Language Acquisition Design (GLAD) training, Standards-Based Reporting and Response to Intervention (RtI). Approximately 50% of our teachers have been trained in GLAD strategies that support a high level of language, vocabulary and reading comprehension among our students. We continue to work on strengthening our standards based reporting systems at all grade levels so that teachers and parents have a clear understanding of how well their students are learning the standards. We are also beginning to gain a better understanding of the benefits of RtI as an instructional approach that "catches" students before they fail and provides strong instructional supports in the general education classroom. Each one of our schools is including these three priorities in their Single Plan for Student Achievement, and we, at the District office, are working hard to make sure the schools have the resources and support they need to accomplish these important goals.
