On June 4, 1979, we opened our first Yoshinoya restaurant in Los Angeles. And while there were no parades or blimps flying overhead, something big was definitely happening. With the introduction of the Yoshinoya Beef Bowl, the concept of American fast food had changed for the better. Now, customers could eat something that was truly unique without giving up the value and service that went along with typical fast food, and it has proven to be successful. So successful that we've expanded across California, and with our new franchising plan in effect, the rest of the nation won't be too far behind. The Evolution of a New Species of Fast Food. There's a reason why we are famous for "Yoshinoya Beef Bowl." Because when we started out, that's all we had... Beef Bowls. But as we grew, we realized that change was good, so we added a Chicken Bowl to our menu. We even added a chicken salad and a Kid's Meal. And we didn't stop with the food. With each additional restaurant, we learned new and better ways to run our business. Once we made one store successful, we promoted employees and then used them to launch a new store. Before long, we had a network of successful, efficient restaurants, each learning from the other's wisdom and experience. And we're going to draw from that network as we transform Yoshinoya into a national success story. Yoshinoya Community Support/Services Yoshinoya West, Inc. regularly contributes to and supports a large number of schools and community activities. In addition, we make substantial contributions to disaster relief funds in the event of flooding, earthquake, fire or any major disasters through The Salvation Army and The American Red Cross.
