Founded in 1988 by Cheryl (Dennie) Smith, Smith Consulting Architects (SCA) is a multi-discipline design firm providing full-service planning, architecture and interior design. Currently, we employ a staff of 35 between our San Diego and Palm Desert offices. SCA is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, with expertise in sustainable design. In support of our LEED//s program, we have affiliated with mechanical and electrical consultants who are leaders in sustainable design and LEED//s accredited as well. Together our team can analyze any project and provide recommendations for specific items that can be incorporated to achieve a level of sustainable design that meets the client//s specific goals. Founder Dennie Smith launched SCA with $1,000 in her pocket, a drafting table, and a drive to succeed. A graduate from Arizona State University, and after a seven year stint at a Newport Beach design firm, Dennie moved to San Diego to set up shop for herself. Virtually unknown in San Diego, her plan was to ease into the industry by becoming a consultant which was stopped short when she got her big break" - a full-service architecture job designing an industrial complex in San Marcos.
