Pentagram is a multi-disciplinary design firm with offices in London, New York, San Francisco and Austin, Texas. Each of nineteen principals specializes in different areas of architecture, graphic design or industrial design. The principals run their own design teams and projects, but may draw upon the capabilities and resources of the whole group to serve a client//s particular needs. Pentagram was founded in 1972 by five designers (hence the name), an industrial designer, an architect and three graphic designers. Our founders believed clients would benefit from a cross-disciplinary approach, an intermix of viewpoints and skills that would keep the design work original and evolving. The strategy has proved successful: 28 years later, our clients are still profiting from its advantages. While we are global and multi-disciplinary, we are not a behemoth communications conglomerate. While we offer individual service and creative focus, we are not a small, one-dimensional boutique. Clients turn to us with their design problems because they trust that a Pentagram solution - while not always the safest or most conservative route - is often the best solution.
