GreenWorks, PC has its roots in the work of Mike Faha and Associates, established in 1987. Even in 1987, Mike Faha and Associates focused on providing sustainable landscape design services for corporate developments, private-sector clients, and infrastructure improvements for public agencies.In 1989, Mike Faha and Associates designed its first wetland mitigation project and first streetscape improvement project. In the early 1990’s, the practice built upon its wetland mitigation design experience and expanded into urban stream corridor planning and design; green solutions for stormwater management; native landscaping for corporate campuses, infrastructure development, public buildings, institutional projects; urban natural park and open space planning; day-lighting streams; and ultimately, urban watershed master planning. The early 1990’s also broughtopportunities throughout the Pacific Northwest in urban design, including main street and urban gateway projects.In 1996, Mike Abbat joined Mike Faha and a year later in 1997 co-foundthe new corporation of GreenWorks,P.C. Mike A. came to GreenWorks with seven years of experience working for the US Forest Service, and many years in the private sector. He also brought great expertise in interpretive, outdoor recreation and ecotourism facilities. Mike Abbat was instrumental in expanding the firm’s services to include: planning and design for interpretive facilities; urban park design; and planning and design for regional, state and national parks. Mike Abbat left GreenWorks in 2007 to become the Planning Director for the City of Gresham.In the spring of 2000, Jim Figurski joined GreenWorks as the firm's first Technical Director, responsible forquality assurance and staff training. Jim came to GreenWorks with over 20 years of professional experience, having served as a Landscape Architect and Project Manager at Portland Parks and Recreation for eleven years, many years in private sector firms and three years with the Willamette National Forest Service. In January 2002, Jim became aprincipal at GreenWorks expanding the firm's expertise in Park and Recreation design, planning, community involvement and construction administration.GreenWorks has always focused on designing sustainable, regenerative landscapes while providingleadershipand promoting sustainable development at local, state, national and international levels. GreenWorks is currently involved in several projects seeking LEED certification. Mike Faha andJim Figurski frequently give presentations on sustainable practices and development; urban ecological design; urban watershed management; and innovative, integrated stormwater approaches for urban development. The staff at GreenWorks is a collection of highly motivated individuals, with unique experience, who share in the firm’s vision, mission and success.
