What is a Director of Construction job description?

The Director of Construction will formulate and supervise all the feasibility, design, permitting and construction related activities within a Market Team in order to ensure the achievement of a new store openings, APODs, retrofitting new brands within existing stores, and remodeling existing stores to meet region objectives. This is accomplished through monitoring and managing the performance of their construction team and by interacting with Directors of Development and Operations to ensure that all development activities within the market team are aligned.

Detailed Description

The primary accountabilities for this position include:

Co ntributions:

· The competencies of their construction team are continuously improved enabling the achievement of strategic growth targets. Through excellence of execution and adherence to established processes and procedures, all new stores, APODs, retrofits and remodels favorably impact the image and equity of firm thus enhancing their value to current and prospective franchisees and investors .

Accountabilities:

· Enables the achievement of the team’s strategic growth plan objectives by coordinating and supervising the activities of feasibility, design, permitting and construction functions within the team for both corporate and franchisee developed properties.

· Assists in the continuous improvement and monitoring of feasibility, design, permitting and construction procedures and brand equity by providing feedback and guidance to the Construction Services department.

· Increases effectiveness of Construction Manager resources by deploying those resources based on workload, competency and alignment with objectives.

· Assists in the development and execution of a company-wide development strategy through active participation in planning forums such as National Development Update meetings.

Job Requirements

The qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to the following :

· Four year degree in architecture, engineering, project management or related discipline

· Ten years experience in architecture, engineering and/or construction

· Five years leading a construction organization in a retail or quick service retail environment

· Experience in development involving franchisees

· Knowledge of many key architecture, engineering, and construction management principles associated with multi-unit, franchisee driven development

· Ability to manage an organization

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, MS Project, AutoCAD

· Project management

· Ability to forge high performing working relationships with other directors

· Ability to translate strategy into actionable plans
